SpiritWood, Corporation

SpiritWood Corporation is an international company incorporated and headquartered in Santiago City, situated in the Isabela province on the northeast of Luzon Island in the Philippines. The corporation was formed in the spring of 1997, and since that time has established several tree plantations in Isabela and the adjacent Quirino province, in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (D.E.N.R.) In eleven years, our operations have extended to cover an area in excess of 820 hectares, (+/- 2,000 acres) which contain in excess of 1.6 million planted trees. At these plantations, the company grows a semi-hardwood species of tree called Gmelina Arborea, which is more commonly referred to as "Melina". (pronounced Ma-lee-na) While the Melina is indigenous to Asia, it is grown and harvested throughout the tropical belt of the globe. After a relatively short growing period of six to seven years, the harvested wood can be pulped for paper, chipped for chipboard and cement board, carbonized into charcoal or simply cut into lumber and used in the construction and furniture industries.
